TORONTO - Starting back in September, the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team partnered with a Scarborough Peewee B girls hockey team for a season long mentorship initiative.

Since the partnership began, the Scarborough Sharks have hosted a game at the home of the Rams, the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC), and were invited by the Rams to use their dressing room to prepare for their game. The Ryerson squad also taught the girls how to do a proper pre-game warmup. Following the game the Rams hosted a pizza party meet-and-greet with the girls and their families where big sister mentors were assigned to little sister mentees. These relationships will continue throughout the season.

The Rams will soon be running one of the Sharks practices and will be inviting the team back to the MAC for a Rams game in the new year.

This initiative will generate long lasting relationships while creating positive female role models for these young hockey players.
