Rams preparing for final regular season road game
TORONTO - Only two weekends remain in the OUA’s regular season schedule and the Ryerson Rams will be looking to take home three points against the Windsor Lancers in the team’s final road trip of the year.
The Rams, ranking fifth in the OUA, enter the weekend in good standing. With a 6-2-1-0 record in 2018, the team has had a fantastic run in second semester, sitting nine points up on the ninth-place team and the final playoff spot.
With only a single matchup this weekend, the Rams will travel to Windsor to take on the Lancers on Saturday at 4:00 pm. The Lancers have garnered two regulation wins on the season and with a 2-1-17-2 record, will not qualify for the playoffs. The low-scoring team averages the second-lowest goals per game in the league (1.45) as well as the highest goals against average (3.43).
Earlier in the season, Ryerson took a 3-0 victory over the Lancers at the Mattamy Athletic Centre with three first period goals. Windsor tends to keep the final score within a goal or two, losing by a single marker to some of the OUA’s best teams including Queen’s, Western, Guelph, and Toronto. The Rams will need to stay in control and play a disciplined game if they want to walk away from this matchup with three points, and the Lancers will be looking to spoil Ryerson’s win streak with a victory at home in their final game of the 2017-18 season.
Looking ahead, head coach Lisa Haley said it will be important to walk away from this weekend with as many points as possible.
“Our goal will be to make sure that we get points in every game,” noted Haley. “At this stage, it’s about finding a way to get at least a point. If you can get two or three, that’s even better. All that matters is that we’re prepared to face Windsor on the road and find ways to get points in that game.”
