Rams WHKY raise $5000 for DIFD

By Andrea Elliott

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's hockey team held its second annual Do It For Daron (DIFD) game to raise funds and awareness for youth mental health.

The team far exceeded its expectations, pulling in $5000.00 on Saturday, January 23 during their game against the Guelph Gryphons at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Special guest Taylor Winnik dropped the puck before the game and then spoke about her personal struggles with depression at a reception following the game.

"The success of this event in only our second year is so inspiring and we should all be proud to be advocates of having the conversation and encouraging people of all ages to speak openly about mental health," said team captain Jessica Hartwick.

All money raised will go to D.I.F.D. at The Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health located in Ottawa.
