Historic night beyond the arc leads Rams to win

By Andrea Elliott
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's basketball team set a new record for most three pointers scored in a game on Wednesday as they cruised to a 105-76 victory over the Western Mustangs at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

The historic night was led by Adika Peter-McNeilly (Scarborough, Ont.) who set a new team record for individual three pointers in a game with 10. The fifth year guard was 10-for-13 from three point territory and 13-for-16 overall, finishing with a career-high 36 points.

Six other Rams recorded a three pointer, including five from Manny Diressa (Toronto) who added 21 points in the victory. Ryerson finished with a total of 23 threes, smashing the previous single game record of 18.

The threes came fast and furious in the opening half and the Rams finished with 14 treys in the first 20 minutes of play. That success gave Ryerson a cozy 60-36 lead at halftime and the Rams never looked back.

Myles Charvis (Mississauga, Ont.) managed just four points on the night but he was a big reason Peter-McNeilly and Diressa had so much success. Charvis finished with 10 assists.

There was so much focus on the Rams offence in this one that their defence was able to be overlooked, although the coaching staff won't want to see that become habit. Ryerson, normally a tough defensive team, allowed Western to shoot 50.0% from the floor in this one, something that will certainly be addressed heading into the final game of 2016.

Ryerson (6-0) returns to action this Saturday, December 3 when they host the Windsor Lancers (4-3) starting at 6:00 p.m.
