Men's volleyball welcomes Ketrzynski to roster
TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams men’s volleyball team is excited to announce Xander Ketrzynski as the first commitment to the program for the 2018-19 season.
A highly coveted recruit, the 6’8” outside hitter has spent the past three seasons with both the Pakmen Volleyball Club and Team Ontario.
Last summer Ketrzynski helped lead Team Ontario to a pair of major tournament victories. In July, the team captured the USA Volleyball High Performance Championship in Florida with impressive wins over the American Youth National team as well as two very experienced California teams. Ketrzynski was named MVP of the tournament.
“He really asserted himself as a top player at that tournament,” said Rams Head Coach Matt Harris. “His attacking and serving abilities were unmatched.”
A few weeks later, Ketrzynski was an instrumental performer for Team Ontario when it won the gold medal at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.
“I am extremely competitive and believe that the team always comes first,” said Ketrzynski. “Regardless if you play or are on the bench, you always play a role on the team and are an equal contributor to the success of the team.”
In 2017, Ketrzynski’s Pakmen club team won the U18 Ontario Championship and finished second at nationals.
“We are very excited to welcome Xander to Ryerson,” said Harris. “He is a top recruit with tremendous potential. He has had a great club and high school career and will continue to excel at the U SPORTS level. Xander is a caring teammate, loves to practice hard and has some physical qualities that are unmatched.”
Ketrzynski is looking forward to September and getting on the court with the Rams.
“I love the team environment and believe that the coaching staff is taking the team in the right direction,” said Ketrzynski. “Also, I feel that Ryerson is the best academic fit for me.”
