Rams wrap up September with key RMC victory
TORONTO - Sierra Clancy’s second-half goal was enough to give the Ryerson Rams the edge in a 1-0 victory over the RMC Paladins on Sunday.
The Rams started the game on a positive note, putting on
As the half progressed, the Rams seemed to be more comfortable in the middle of the field, but RMC goalkeeper Claudia Rusu (Toronto, Ont.) shut the door and kept the game scoreless.
Rams midfield Anastasia Grekos had the chance to put her team on the board early in the second half, but Rusu made a stunning penalty kick save for the Paladins. Ryerson grew increasingly frustrated as the game went on, but the tides finally turned midway through the second half.
The Rams walked away with a 1-0 victory, their first win in the month of September.
Ryerson head coach Natalie Bukovec says the biggest takeaway from the game was the consistent effort given by her players.
"RMC kept us on our toes, especially into the last 10 minutes of the game," says Bukovec. "We're going to continue to work on playing consistently and capitalizing on our opportunities."
The Rams will return to action on October 6, facing off against the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa.
