Rams extend unbeaten streak with win over Laurier
WATERLOO, Ont. — The Ryerson Rams extended their undefeated streak to five consecutive games after taking a 79-54 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo on Saturday evening.
Tonight’s win over Laurier marked the team’s highest-scoring game of the season thus far. Bronwyn Williams (Toronto, Ont.) lead the Rams with 14 points, shooting 67% (6-9) from the field.
Ryerson took a 5-0 lead in the opening moments of the first quarter, as Jama Bin-Edward (Waterloo, Ont.) hit one of the two three-pointers the Rams would eventually score in the game.
Laurier attempted to even out the score midway through the first quarter, but the Rams eventually outscored their opponents 23-15 after 10.
The second quarter was relatively low-scoring for both teams; the Golden Hawks were able to hold the Rams to just 11 points in the quarter, and Ryerson took a 34-28 lead into halftime.
The Rams were virtually unstoppable in the third quarter, scoring 29 points and extending their lead heading into the final ten minutes of the game.
Ryerson solidified their victory after outscoring the Golden Hawks 16-13 in the fourth quarter, eventually taking a 79-54 win over Laurier.
Hayley Robertson (Toronto, Ont.) had 12 points, three rebounds, and six assists in the win, while Katherine Follis (Toronto, Ont.) had 10 points and six rebounds.
As a whole, the Rams shot 49.3% (33-67) from the field.
The Rams will continue their road trip next weekend, taking on the McMaster Marauders on November 16 and the Brock Badgers on November 17.
