Errors impact Rams loss against Lancers
WINDSOR, Ont. - The Rams visited the Windsor Lancers court on Friday night and unfortunately were unsuccessful. The Lancers had the advantage at 3-1. With the loss, the Rams record moves to 3-2.
The Rams started with a number of service errors and missed attacks, but we’re able to maintain the lead. Xander Ketrzynski (Toronto, Ont.) was a key player in the first set for the Rams with 10 kills. The Rams came away with a 25 - 21 win in the first set, proving that they were ready to compete with the Lancers.
Into the second set, the Rams had a number of stellar digs that kept them in play with the Lancers. At the technical timeout the Rams were behind 16-12. The Rams started to make a number of errors this set, and could not come back. The Lancers took the second set 25-20.
In the third set, the Rams saw a lot of great action at the net. At the third technical timeout, the Lancers were up over the Rams again at 16-12. The Rams tried their best to keep the play alive. Although, the errors were quickly adding up and causing the Rams to fall behind. The Rams dropped the set at 25-18.
In the fourth set, the Lancers quickly climbed ahead of the Rams. At the fourth technical timeout the Rams were down 16-10. Fortunately, Ketrzynski improved his accuracy on offense and helped the Rams gain a few points. Although, the Lancers kept pushing and the Rams were unable to fight back, eventually dropping the set 25-17.
Joel Hannan (Toronto, Ont.) was another key offensive player for the Rams with a total of seven kills for the Rams, while Ketrzynski finished with a match-high 24 kills.
Tomorrow the Rams will head to London to visit the Western Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. From there, it will be important for the Rams to minimize their errors to gain a competitive edge early on. For live updates, follow us on Twitter.
