Kis-Toth, epee team bring home hardware from OUAs

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Natasha Kis-Toth had quite the debut at her first OUA fencing championship, bringing home the silver medal in the individual epee event and helping the epee relay team earn bronze this weekend at Brock University.

The team finished tied for fourth overall, earning 126 total points throughout the weekend, which is a 50-point improvement from last year's championship.

In addition to Kis-Toth's success in the epee event, Amalia Tadevosyan finished in sixth place. Roxanna Belaoussoff finished 12th while Brigitte Toljagic placed 38th. The foursome then competed in the team relay which edged Carleton 45-44 to win the bronze medal.

In the individual sabre event, Buke Ayra was the Rams top finisher in 11th place. She was followed by Milena Oliva in 27th place and Goldbloom in 28th. Kathleen Villalba rounded out the team's efforts in 30th place. As a team the next day, the Rams finished in sixth place.

In the individual foil event, Hannah Joosse finished 21st to lead the Rams. Alexandra Nash finished 33rd while Nicole Bernard and Vanessa Li came 39th and 40th, respectively. As a team, Ryerson finished 10th in the foil relay event.
