You Can Play to address Rams athletes, staff

By Andrea Elliott

TORONTO – The Department of Athletics is pleased to announce its participation in the You Can Play Project with four sessions for varsity student-athletes and staff happening next week.

You Can Play is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

At the core of Ryerson Athletics are education leadership and diversity and inclusiveness. The Rams support the personal development of our students and staff through life experiences and mentoring that promotes a sense of responsibility.

“The Ryerson Rams take great pride in creating a welcoming and inviting space for all,” said Athletic Director, Dr. Ivan Joseph. “We look forward to having world class athlete Chris Mosier join our department and share his message of inclusion and commitment to the pursuit of excellence in the world of sport. We are pleased to partner with You Can Play and Scotia Bank to deliver programming to our student-athletes and staff that support our mission.”

Chris Mosier is the first trans athlete to join a U.S. national team different from his gender assigned at birth. Mosier is a triathlete and currently serves as You Can Play’s Vice President, Program Development and Community Relations.

The You Can Play workshop is financially supported by their Young Professionals Network and Scotia Bank.
