Vengroff places 7th at OUA Championship

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - First year wrestler Raquel Vengroff (Toronto) was the lone Ryerson representative at the 2018 OUA wrestling championship and placed seventh in her first conference championships.

Vengroff, wrestling in the 59kg weight class, is the first female to compete for Ryerson at an OUA championship.

In her first match Vengroff lost to the eventual champion Hannah Taylor from Brock. Next in pool play, Vengroff was overmatched by Lakehead's Madison Clayton. In the final round robin match, Queen's Karly Kudrinko defeated Vengroff.

In the 7th place match Vengroff earned a victory by pinning Western's Racheal Gibson just 2:21 into the match.
