Dr. Ivan Joseph named Vice Provost of Student Affairs at Dalhousie University
Ryerson University’s Director of Athletics, Dr. Ivan Joseph, has been appointed Vice Provost of Student Affairs at Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S.

Joseph’s strategic focus has attracted some of the best coaches, staff
“While I'm excited for this new opportunity at Dal, I will miss the students and the university that I have grown to love,” says Joseph. “I want to thank the many students, staff, and alumni, as well as the entire Ryerson University community, for all of the opportunities that they have allowed me to be apart of, and for helping launch this next step in my career."
Before Ryerson, Joseph was the director of soccer operations, head coach, and an assistant professor at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Joseph led his team to three conference championships and its first national title.
In his time with the Rams, Joseph oversaw the university’s first conference championships in 2016 and first national title this season. Ryerson also won the rights to host their first national championship in 2015 and have gone on to win two other national bids under Joseph’s leadership.
Off the playing field, Joseph’s mission statement of developing the whole student has guided the Rams to set new records for academic awards and community involvement. Ryerson’s student-athlete GPA now exceeds that of the greater student body and has resulted in an all-time number of Academic All-Canadians.
The contributions under Joseph also extend into the greater Toronto community. The Kavanagh family’s 2017 donation marks the single largest gift to Ryerson Athletics in the history of the university, and the focus on community engagement and outreach initiatives has helped strengthen Ryerson’s broader city-building priority.
As per Dalhousie’s official statement, Joseph will begin his new position at the university on August 1, 2018.
