Rams to host Team China in exhibition matchup
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams are set to take on an unfamiliar opponent this offseason, as the back-to-back U SPORTS national silver medalists announced Wednesday that Ryerson will host China’s senior men’s national team in an international exhibition game at home in Toronto.
The Chinese national team will travel to Toronto on July 3, 2018, to face off against the Rams on Ryerson’s Coca-Cola court at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Team China is set to face the Rams amidst their tune-up matches ahead of the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. In the recent past, China has earned medals in three of the last five FIBA Asia Cup tournaments (formerly known as FIBA Asia Championship), including a gold medal showing in both 2011 and 2015.
Team China is also set to face the UBC Thunderbirds on June 20 ahead of the Pacific Rim Classic in Vancouver.
“We have been working hard during the offseason and we are excited to test ourselves and to continue our growth as a team,” continues Rana. “This will be a terrific event for Ryerson University and our local community. We hope to see many supporters there.”
Tickets will be $10 for adults, alumni, seniors, non-Ryerson students, and children while Ryerson students will be free with their valid OneCard. Tickets will be available at MattamyAthleticCentre.ca starting Thursday, June 14 at noon.
