Sansonetti latest to join Rams roster
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men’s soccer team announced Wednesday that Gianpiero Sansonetti has joined the Rams roster, named as the latest member of the 2018 recruiting class.
Sansonetti, a defensive midfield from Toronto, joins the Rams after playing with International FC last season. Additionally, Sansonetti has competed in numerous international competitions and will bring a diverse set of skills to Ryerson’s back end.
Sansonetti had the experience of a lifetime when he was selected as captain of Il Viaggio in 2016. The inaugural season of the Il Villagio program consisted of Canadian and American footballers who were selected traveled to Italy as part of the Italian Football Association’s (FIGC) program, giving North American players a chance to experience Italian soccer. Sansonetti says this experience was the highlight of his athletic career.
“We lived the luxurious life of a professional footballer for five days,” explains Sansonetti. “I would not even know how to begin explaining the emotional roller coaster that we experienced just by stepping foot on the field.”
A graduate of Dante Alighieri Academy in North York, Sansonetti will enter Ryerson’s Business Management program in September.
