Rams hit the road looking to get back in win column
TORONTO - The first road trip of the season will see the Ryerson Rams women’s soccer team take on Trent University and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology on Sept. 15 and Sept. 16.
After getting out to a 1-0-1 start to the season the Rams offence has struggled to get anything going, scoring zero goals over their next three games, bringing their record to 1-2-2 on the year.
On Saturday the Rams will look to get out to the exact same start this time around against Trent. In their first meeting of the season the Rams got out to an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. The Rams led for most of that match before giving up a late 84th minute goal evening up the score and ending in a tie. With both teams tied in the standings this game is a chance to get some separation with a win.
On Sunday, Ryerson will look to sweep the season series against UOIT. Thanks to a first half goal from Alex Rodkin the Rams opened the season with a 1-0 win against the Ridgebacks. After being shut out by the Rams, the Ridgebacks have scored eight goals in their following five games. The Rams will need to slow down this Ridgebacks offence if they want to repeat the outcome of the opening game of the season.
The Rams will be without Rodkin going forward. After scoring in the first game of the season Rodkin suffered a knee injury two games later against the University of Toronto.
A good weekend will give the Rams a chance to move up the standings in a tight OUA East. After the first three weekends of the season there are just five points separating the second and ninth placed teams.
The Rams will take on Trent at Justin Chiu Stadium and UOIT at Vaso's Field with both games kicking off at 1:00 p.m. on their respective days. For live updates follow us on Twitter.
