Rams looking to get back on track with playoffs looming
TORONTO - After their season-long unbeaten streak was snapped last Saturday, the Ryerson Rams will look to get back on track this week with key matchups against two divisional rivals.
A 3-0 loss suffered at the hands of the Carleton Ravens broke Ryerson’s 11-game unbeaten streak dating back to the team’s season opener against the UOIT Ridgebacks.
With last Saturday’s shortcomings in the past, the Rams will look to bounce back with a home and away split this week. The team will take on the UOIT Ridgebacks in Oshawa on Wednesday before heading home and facing the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday.
UOIT has a 4-2 record in their last six games, most recently earning a 3-1 win over the Nipissing Lakers on October 6. Overall, the team sits seventh in the standings — one point back of the sixth and final playoff spot.
Earlier this season, the Rams took a 2-1 victory over UOIT to open up their regular season campaign. The Ridgebacks always manage to keep the score close, and the Rams will need to be on their toes Wednesday night if they hope to leave Oshawa with a win.
Saturday’s game against Toronto is shaping up to be of crucial importance to both teams, especially considering the OUA East standings: with 27 points on the season, the Varsity Blues currently sit four points back of the Rams. Riding a six-game winning streak, Toronto is coming off a key 3-2 victory against the Carleton Ravens on October 7.
The Rams earned a 3-1 victory against Toronto earlier this season at Varsity Stadium and will be looking to replicate similar results on Saturday.
Wednesday’s matchup against UOIT will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Vaso’s Field in Oshawa, while Saturday’s home game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Downsview Park. Stay up-to-date with this weekend’s results by following the Ryerson Rams on Twitter.
