Responsibilities
Reporting to the Athlete Services Manager, the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator will work and coordinate with the Athletic Therapist and Head Coaches to provide expertise, guidance and training in the area of strength training and physical conditioning for student-athletes and varsity sports teams at Ryerson University.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree preferably in Kinesiology or a related field. Current certifications that are required include: NSCA (National Strength Conditioning Association Certificate), NSCA-CSC's (National Strength Conditioning Association Certificate- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), CSEP (Certified Exercise Physiologist), CPR and Standard First Aid. Provincial, national or professional team experience is an asset. A minimum of 3 years in high performance strength and conditioning training preferably in a post-secondary team sports environment. A positive criminal reference check is required.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, conducting and monitoring evidence based strength and conditioning program for a variety of team sports.
- Practical experience in planning and conducting individual and or group/team personal training.
- Proven leadership and motivational skills to guide teams and individuals in proper training techniques to maximize performance and minimize injury; must have expertise in strength/power training and physical conditioning.
- Strong organizational and time management skills are required to ensure records on the strength and conditioning program of each team and individuals are maintained and up to date.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills are required to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders; provide comprehensive year end reports on the overall state of the program - analysis and recommendations.
- Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods or as required by the demands of the position.
- The ability to remain co-operative in all situations; sensitivity to the objectives and interests of individuals and groups.
- A demonstrated commitment to client service - specifically students, staff, faculty and external contacts.
