SUDBURY - The Ryerson Rams women's soccer team suffered their fourth shutout of the season today, falling 2-0 to the Laurentian Lady Vees. The loss drops Ryerson's record to 1-5-1, but the Rams still find themselves tied for the sixth and final playoff position in the OUA east division.

Laurentian was without their leading scorer Lisa Watson (Newmarket, Ont.) for today's contest as she recovers from injury, but the Rams couldn't capitalize on her absence.

Celine Valiquette (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) gave the Lady Vees a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute as she found the back of the net behind Ryerson's Katrina Gonyea (Richmond Hill, Ont.). Gonyea made her first start as goalkeeper for the Rams this season, after entering two other matches in relief.

The Lady Vees extended their lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute on a Crystal-Ann Hackett (Mississauga, Ont.) goal.

Ryerson generated four shots on net but could not solve Laurentian keeper Laura van de Valk (Burlington, Ont.) who was also making her first start of the season.

For the second straight game a Rams defender was named player of the match. Veteran back Michelle Resendes (London, Ont.) earned the honour this afternoon.

Ryerson is one of only two OUA teams to play seven games so far this season and, as a result, play just one game this upcoming week. The Rams take to the field on Sunday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. against the Toronto Varsity Blues at Birchmount Stadium.
