TORONTO - Second-year defenceman Brian Birkhoff scored on the power play with just over five minutes to go in the third period as the Ryerson Rams defeated the RMC Paladins 3-2 on Saturday for their first conference victory of the season.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 after 40 minutes. For the second straight contest, the Rams surpassed the 45 shot mark, outshooting the Paladins 48-18. On Friday, Ryerson fired 47 shots on goal in a 6-3 loss at Queen's.

Dustin Alcock and Dean Willmott also scored for the Rams, while Eric Louis-Seize and Scott Domenico tallied for RMC.

Steve Gleeson stopped 16 of 18 shots for the victory between the pipes, while Paul Dorsey stopped 45 of 48 shots in a losing cause. Ryerson was 2-for-6 on the power play and RMC was 1-for-5.

The Rams (1-1-0) will host Queen's(1-0-0) on Friday, October 19 in the home opener at Mattamy Home Ice.
