TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams men’s hockey team will play its regular season home opener on Friday night against the Queen’s Gaels at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens.

The Rams opened the 2012-13 OUA campaign last weekend with a 6-3 loss to the Gaels in Kingston, Ont.  Ryerson outshot Queen’s 37-16 through the first two periods but trailed 4-3 heading into the third. The Gaels would add an insurance marker with a power play goal with six minutes to go in the contest.

The Rams picked up their first victory of the season the following night, defeating the RMC Paladins 3-2. Second-year defenceman Brian Birkhoff scored the game-winner on the power play with just over five minutes to go in the third period. For the second straight contest, the Rams surpassed the 45 shot mark, outshooting the Paladins 48-18.

Pre-Game Ceremony
The 1962-63 men’s hockey team that was inducted into the Ryerson Athletics Hall of Fame on September 22 will be honoured in a pre-game ceremony.
The 1962-63 team compiled an 11-0-2 record en route to an Ontario Intercollegiate Athletic Association (O.I.A.A.) championship.
