TORONTO - This past weekend the Rams badminton team participated in a one-day tournament at the University of Toronto against Toronto, York and Waterloo and finished third in the team results despite not competing in every event.

Second year player David Chan (Markham, Ont.) finished second in the A flight of the men's singles division to earn the Rams seven points. After losing his first match to the eventual event winner, Pouria Modaresi (Richmond Hill, Ont.) won his next two matches to earn six points.

Ryerson's women also compiled 13 points for the team in singles competition.

The Rams took 14 points in mixed doubles action, the most amongst the competing schools. Dayvon Reid (Kingston, Jamaica) and Vivian Kwok (Stouffville, Ont.) paired together and won all three matches to claim first place. The duo of freshmen defeated a veteran team from Waterloo in the finals.

Fabienne Chan (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and Ryan Lue (Whitby, Ont.) lost their first mixed doubles match but won their next two to earn six points.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday, November 3 when they host the Ryerson Invitational at Kerr Hall Gymnasium.
