Coming into the game Ryerson (2-3-0) was averaging 48.5 shots per game, one of the highest averages in the country, but Toronto (4-0-1) plugged up the neutral zone and held the Rams to just 27 shots.
Ryerson fell behind early as Toronto's Jeff Brown (Toronto) notched his third goal of the season just 2:57 into the first period.
The Rams got on the board before the first period came to a close as Victor Terreri (Mississauga, Ont.) jammed home a rebound from a Daniel Lombardi (Richmond Hill, Ont.) shot to even the score at 1-1.
The Ryerson duo connected for a second time as Lombardi scored his first of the year just 1:06 into the second period to give the Rams a 2-1 lead.
Ryerson was outshot 17-6 in the second period and the Toronto pressure manufactured a power play goal from Tyler Liukkonen (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) at the 12:14 mark to tie the game at 2-2.
Toronto's Andrew Doyle (Richmond Hill, Ont.) gathered in a deflected puck and tucked it past Ryerson's Troy Passingham (Mississauga, Ont.) for the game-winning goal at 3:03 of the third period.
Varsity Blues goalie Garrett Sheehan (Cremona, Alta.) made 27 saves for his second win of the season while Passingham made 39 saves in the loss.
Ryerson returns to Mattamy Home Ice this Saturday, October 27 as they host the Nipissing Lakers for an afternoon affair at 2:00 p.m. The game will be the 1st Annual LGBT Awareness Game in partnership with the You Can Play Project, the Toronto Gay Hockey Association and Get Out! Canada.
