Jim Peffers Award

This award was first established in 1997 to recognize a staff or faculty or coach who contributed a great deal of personal time to the Interuniversity program. In 2003, the award was renamed after Jim Peffers’ battle with cancer took his life on September 18, 2002. Jim was an assistant coach with the Rams Hockey team for 2 seasons who gave as much as he could to the program and was an inspiration to the team players. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will long remember the hard work, dedication, loyalty, and enthusiasm that Jim gave to the hockey program and to life. Jim’s final season with the Rams was a fitting end as the Rams clinched an OUA playoff berth for the 1st time in 10 seasons. Jim’s final days were given a boast as he maintained contact with players and coaching staff. The award is a tribute to a person who exemplified all the good that Interuniversity sport could provide.
