SPORTS HISTORY

Athletic teams at Ryerson began competing shortly after the school was founded in 1948 (then known as the Ryerson Institute of Technology). Between 1958 and 1971, Ryerson teams won several provincial championships (OIAA) in hockey, judo, skiing, soccer, table tennis and volleyball.

Over the years, numerous Ryerson student-athletes and coaches have won major awards or been selected provincial and national all-stars. Ryerson coaches and athletes have also represented Canada in international competition including world championships and FISU student games.

The documents have been compiled from limited information and incomplete archives. Our historical records are a continuous work in progress. If you have any corrections, deletions or additions (and the proof to support) please notify the Sports Information Coordinator at gorams@ryerson.ca.
