On behalf of the staff and coaches in the Department of Athletics and Recreation, welcome to the website of the Ryerson Rams.

Sport has the power to change people’s lives and build a community of engaged citizens. This unique quality allows us to deliver exceptional experiences to 45,000 students across campus, student-athletes who wear the blue and gold with pride, and communities throughout the downtown core.

Our mission is to champion a spirit of belonging, pride and excellence, which enriches the academic experience and develops the whole student.  We achieve this in three ways.

1) Outstanding recreation programming and facilities: We support the success and wellbeing of all students at Ryerson so they can engage with each other and bolster their physical and mental health. To achieve this, we develop facilities, programming and instruction tailored to the needs of our students.

2) Student-athletes who excel in academics, service and athletics: We have a holistic view of student-athlete development with equal emphasis on their studies, community service, and success on the court, field and rink. In the last five years, our teams have achieved historic firsts for rankings and championships. Meanwhile, they have reached new heights for academic achievement, such as overall athlete GPA, while breaking records with their volunteer service hours. As a result, Rams alumni are people who make a difference wherever they go.

3) Extensive community engagement: We are deeply committed to supporting youth in underserved communities. Through our Rams Care program, student-athletes inspire young people who might not otherwise aspire to a post-secondary education, and we raise funds for them to attend Ryerson summer camps. The thriving nature of Rams Care is also the base for our effort to lead university-wide community engagement initiatives.

Ryerson is a remarkable university: diverse, urban, integrated into the downtown core and brimming with innovative programming. Athletics and Recreation is a vibrant part of campus life, and I invite you to explore all of the ways you can join the Ramily.
