The Ryerson Rams men's basketball team are soaring high after an exciting 73-72 victory over the York Lions on Saturday night.

The Rams (4-8) have won their second-straight game and now sit firmly in sixth place in the OUA East division.  They are also now just one win back of the Ottawa Gee-Gees (5-7) and two back of both York (6-7) and Laurentian (6-7), who are tied for third place in the division.

Veteran Ryan McNeilly (Toronto) continued to lead Ryerson with a team-high 15 points to go along with five assists and two rebounds.  Luke Staniscia (Pefferlaw, Ont.) provided 11 points and nine boards for the Rams, who outscored the Lions by 11 in the opening quarter.  After the Lions went up by a couple heading into the final quarter, the Rams turned up the offence, recording 27 points in the fourth period.  They also out-rebounded York 38-35, but were particularly dominant on the offensive glass, taking down 17 while the Lions could only manage six.

The Lions made a comeback after being down by six late in the game and were able to find a final open shot for the win.  Unfortunately for York, David Tyndale's shot rimmed out, and Ryerson was able to escape with their second road victory of the season.

Ryerson will return to Kerr Hall Gym for a five-game home-stand that will carry them through the rest of January.  They will return to action next Friday, January 21 with a game against the Queen's Gaels (2-11). The men will also take on the RMC Paladins (0-13) the following night, as they continue to make a strong second-half push with the postseason slowly drawing nearer.
