The Ryerson Rams soccer program has announced the commitment of four more athletes to its 2012-13 recruiting class.

Glen Shields FC product Michael Carlucci is a 2007 CSL division winner, and has also garnered three YRAA championships with St. Joan of Arc C.H.S. The native of Maple, Ont. was a 2009 athlete of the year nominee and was also a track and field most valuable player in the same season. He is on pace to be an honour roll member for the third year at St. Joan of Arc, and will be entering the environmental and urban sustainability program this fall.

"Ryerson has always been my main option for post-secondary education," said Carlucci. "I have been told nothing but positive things about the school and the programs they have to offer. The coaches have a lot to offer and will definitely be a tremendous help in further strengthening my soccer abilities. I am also looking very forward to training with the current and new players, seeing as how they are very athletic and skilled, which will ultimately provide me with a great level of competition and allow me to become a better player.

"Academically, the program I have chosen is new but after doing some research I have decided that it is the best program for me to be involved in, simply because it will provide me with a variety of possible career paths. I am looking very forward to my years at Ryerson, especially now because I know I have made the best choice possible for myself."

Fellow Joan of Arc teammate Mikhail Farquharson is also a two-time YRAA champion and was an Ontario Cup finalist with Woodbridge in 2010, when he competed in the BMO national championship. The Vaughan, Ont. native will be studying arts and contemporary studies at Ryerson.

"I chose Ryerson to pursue my athletic and academic career because I got a strong sense of family from the team members and I also recognized the emphasis that is placed on balancing sports and academics," said Farquharson.

"Mikhail is a player who has a lot of raw talent and can be a big part of this program one day if he chooses to apply himself," said Associate Coach Filip Prostran.

Arman Mohammadi of Pickering, Ont. plays his club soccer with Glen Shields and won the Ontario Indoor Cup in 2012. He has made the honour roll twice throughout his high-school career and will enter the business management program at Ryerson. He is the son of former women's Associate Coach Ramin Mohammadi, who had been involved with the Ryerson soccer program over the past five years and is also the technical director at Glen Shields.

"I feel Ryerson provides me with the best chance into entering the real business world and because the athletic program is highly rated and can help me develop into a better athlete," said Mohammadi.

"Arman and his family have been a big part of the Ryerson soccer family and his work ethic and dedication we feel will make a great fit to what we are building," said Prostran.

Milos Scepanovic, a former player with the Serbian White Eagles who is currently with the Brampton Lions, has also committed to the Rams for the fall season. He is a 2008 CSL champion.

"I chose Ryerson because I heard a lot of good things about it and because I thought I would fit into the environment pretty easily," said Scepanovic.

"Ryerson will give Milos the opportunity to be successful if he chooses; his growth off the field will help him be successful on it," said Prostran.
