TORONTO- The Ryerson Rams men's volleyball team is pleased to announce that Uchenna Ofoha of Markham, Ont. will be joining the Rams for the upcoming fall.
The 6'5'' middle blocker from Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy was named team MVP in 2009-10 and finished as a finalist for athlete of the year in 2011-12.
"To be the best you have to train with the best," said Ofoha. "I consider Ryerson's volleyball program one of the best in Ontario and I would like to be a part of it. I hope to learn as much as I can from Coach Mirek Porosa and have a stellar OUA career."
Ofoha will be taking Civil Engineering at Ryerson.
"Academically I have wanted to go to Ryerson since I started high school. I did a lot of homework about their prestigious civil engineering program and I like what I have learned about it," said the new commit. "Ryerson is the perfect fit for the (important) aspects in my life; that is academics, athletics, and a great atmosphere. It is a very rewarding program and school."
"He is a player that is always putting in work; he gives 100% because he loves what he does and is passionate about it, said Porosa. The Rams coach believes that Ofoha has all the tools to become an OUA star. "He is still young in his all-around development, but he possesses all the athletic skills necessary to be successful at this level. Ofoha has impressed everyone with his improvement over the summer and we believe that he will continue to develop here at Ryerson."
Ofoha is thrilled about his opportunity at Ryerson. "I am very excited to become a Ram and proudly represent the program and the school years to come. It's a great place to be and the players are awesome."
