Ben Rich
Head Coach

Ben Rich was named the first head coach of the Ryerson baseball team in 2013. Since that time the team has experienced year-over-year growth, increasing their win totals each season. In 2015 the team qualified for the OUA Championship Playoff Tournament for the first time, and earned their first playoff win in that tournament.

Rich has over eight years of proven success with university baseball in Ontario, including as both a player and a coach. From 2004-2008, he was the starting catcher for the UWO Varsity Baseball team, which became an OUA dynasty winning three consecutive OUA championships (2005, 2006, 2007). Rich also achieved personal success during those years, being selected as an OUA All-Star (2005-2007), OUA Most Valuable Hitter (2005), and OUA Playoff MVP (2005).

Before starting the baseball program at Ryerson, Rich was the Head Coach of the Carleton University Baseball Team (2010-2011). He was also previously an assistant coach for the AAA London Badgers Baseball 15U team (2005-2007), which won the Ontario Baseball Association Championship in 2007.

Rich is a fully certified National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) Level II Baseball Coach. In October 2012, he graduated from Ryerson with a Masters in Public Policy and Administration.
