After joining the Ryerson Rams volleyball programs for the 2016-17 season serving as a strength and conditioning coach, Simac was named Assistant Coach of the Rams men's team for the 2017-18 season in June 2017.
Simac is a former middle blocker with the senior men's national team from 2008-2016. During his international career, Simac was a member of the Canada's best-ever seventh place finish at the 2014 FIVB World Championships in Poland and competed in the final six of the FIVB World League in 2013. Playing professionally in Europe, Simac was a two-time Slovenian Champion and two-time Slovenian Cup champion with ACH Volley Ljubljana. The club also won the Middle European Cup in 2010-11. He then joined Arkas Holding in Izmir, winning the Turkish Championship in 2012-13, before moving to Pallavolo Lugano in Switzerland for 2013-14 and then ASUL Lyon in France for 2014-15.
Simac was a member of the Queen's Gaels from 2002-2006, winning the OUA Championship in 2005-06. He also represented Canada at the 2009 FISU Games in Belgrade, Serbia, where the Canadians finished sixth, finishing with a 5-3 record and falling to host Serbia in the 5-6 classification game.
