Rams run personal bests at OUAs
On the distance side, Joel Perera competed in the men’s 1000m and 1500m, placing 14th overall in the 1000m in a time of 2:34.63 and 18th overall in the 1500m in a time of 4:10.06. Joel performed at his seasonal best holding his own against the always highly competitive fields in both events to cap off what may be his final meet as a Ram. Aaron McQuaid also competed in the men’s 1000m, placing 17th overall in a time of 2:36.14 as well as laying down a personal best time of 1:23.82 in the very fast men’s 600m event. Megan Mukai saved her best performance for her last race of the season to run a 1:41.59 personal best time by two seconds in the women’s 600m, placing 20th overall. Aaron and Megan will be back to lead the Rams next season, showing great potential for the future of the Rams distance program.
Coach Dell’Apa said he was extremely proud of his athletes’ performances at the OUAs as well as the entire distance team that competed throughout the indoor season.
“This team was an absolute pleasure to coach. They worked hard, were dedicated and committed to their workouts and training and improved every meet throughout the season. This team has set the bar high as we look to build the Ryerson Rams into a track powerhouse going forward,” said Dell'Apa.
