Skapski joins Rams from west coast

By Andrea Elliott
TORONTO - A product of Abbotsford, B.C., Mitch Skapski is the latest to commit to the Ryerson Rams men's hockey team for the 2017-18 season.

Skapski spent the past two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) accumulating 68 points in 109 games. The left winger is coming off his most productive offensive season with 47 points in 55 games split between the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, where he was team captain, and the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Prior to heading to the BCHL, Skapski played 143 career games in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Everett Silvertips, Victoria Royals, and Saskatoon Blades between 2012-15.

Skapski describes himself as a "small, fast player who plays with an edge" and should fit into the Rams quick-paced system. He toes the line of playing with an edge without being undisicplined and had 90 penalty minutes over the last two years in the BCHL.

In the 2011-12 season Skapski was part of Team British Columbia which won bronze at the Western Canada Challenge, something he calls the highlight of his athletic career thus far.

Skapski, the fourth player to commit to the Rams recruiting class, will be entering the Creative Industries program this fall.
