Rams receive another transfer in Fanny Vigeant

By Adam Jenkins

TORONTO — Two weeks after announcing their first transfer of the offseason, Lisa Haley and the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team have received their second transfer, Fanny Vigeant from the Carabins de Montréal.

After spending two seasons in the RSEQ, Vigeant makes the move from Montréal to Toronto to play out the remainder of her university hockey career.

"I chose Ryerson because at first, I heard it was a top university and once I came to visit the campus, I completely fell in love with the place and the atmosphere," Vigeant said. "I was looking for a university where I would be able to grow as an athlete as well as a student, and I think Ryerson is definitely that kind of place!"

Vigeant, who has been playing hockey since she was five years old, did not make the switch from forward to goaltender until age 14. Despite the late decision, she has taken command between the pipes.

"Fanny's style of play can be summed up in two words: fearless competitor. Despite her small physical stature, Fanny has an endless compete level," commented Rams head coach, Lisa Haley. "She is lightning quick, very athletic and has great hands. Fanny takes her academics, training, and hockey very seriously and takes advantage of each day to make herself better. We expect her to excel at Ryerson in all areas of her development.

Vigeant describes herself as a hard-working person who is always ready to do what it takes to make the team better.

The St-Hyacinthe, Que. native brings national championship experience to the Rams, having been a member of the 2015-16 Carabins team that won the CIS Women's Hockey National Championship.

A graduate of Collège Lionel-Groulx in Sainte-Thérèse, Que., Vigeant will be enrolled in Ryerson's Early Childhood Studies program beginning in September.

The Ryerson Rams women's hockey team will open their 2017-18 regular season on Sunday, October 15 at Canlan Ice Sports against the York Lions. You can view the full women's hockey schedule here, and you can read their schedule preview here.
