Dunning finds beach glory ahead of Rams season

By Andrea Elliott

TORONTO - Ryerson Rams incoming libero Jackson Dunning had a pretty successful season on the beach ahead of his first stint in the blue and gold jersey this fall.

Alternating between Youth Open and 18U events on the Ontario Volleyball beach tour, Dunning landed on the podium in his last three competitions prior to the Ontario Championships with three different partners.

This past weekend Dunning and his partner S. Abrams finished fourth at the 18U Ontario Championships at Ashbridge's Bay in Toronto.

During the beach tour Dunning had two first place finishes with the most recent triumph in the Youth Open event at Ashbridge's Bay in Toronto on July 23rd. Dunning and his partner T. Sani won the male premier division. Earlier in the month Dunning and partner M. Wlodarski finished first in the 18U male premier event held in Ottawa on July 8th.

Dunning's other podium finish was a third place result in an 18U male premier event on July 15th with partner Abrams in Brampton.

Dunning is one of six new faces the Rams men's volleyball team will add to the roster for the upcoming 2017-18 season and hopes to help the team qualify for their third straight Final Four appearance.
