Mrvaljevic fifth to commit to Rams

By Andrea Elliott
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's basketball team announced their fifth committed recruit in Stefanija Mrvaljevic on Tuesday morning.

Mrvaljevic spent the past season with the Hamilton Transway team in the JUEL league. The squad finished sixth in league play with a 14-8 record but just this past weekend finished second in the league playoff tournament.

Prior to playing with Transway, Mrvaljevic spent the 2015-16 season with the GTA West JUEL program and in the summer of 2016 was a member of the Canada Drive Blue Star AAU program that traveled throughout the United States.

"Stefanija is a versatile player who will add depth for us while having the ability to play multiple positions. With toughness and athleticism she is a player who is a great fit for our style of play," said Ryerson head coach Carly Clarke about her newest addition.

The Mississauga, Ont. native and four-time honour roll student will enter the Business Management program starting this fall. A soon-to-be graduate from Applewood Heights S.S., Mrvaljevic won a ROPSSAA championship and qualified for OFSAA with her team this season.

"I chose Ryerson because it was a great fit for me both athletically and academically. The amazing academic support was a great advantage as well. The family atmosphere the basketball team has is something that I have heard great things about and was interested in being a part of. Also, Ryerson has proven to be a strong basketball team with great success. I look forward to being a part of a team with that winning tradition," said Mrvaljevic.

The Ryerson Rams women's basketball team's recruiting class now stands at five players.
