Rams match win total from season ago
The Ryerson fastpitch team went 3-1 during the recent road trip to the University of Ottawa and Carleton University to push their record to 7-1. The seven wins match the Rams' win total from all of last season with 12 games still remaining on the schedule.
Ryerson University 6 - University of Ottawa 3
In the first game on Friday night, Ryerson beat Ottawa 6-3, led by a strong pitching performance by Abby Thompson. Ryerson opened the game with three runs by Emily Rickson, Taylar Oats and Carly Forrester in the first inning and never relinquished the lead. Emma Carr lead the team with three hits including a triple.
University of Ottawa 4 - Ryerson University 0
Ryerson ran into a tough pitcher who pitched a three hit shutout and handed Ryerson their first loss of the season. Ottawa broke the game open, scoring all four runs in the fourth inning. Despite the loss, Samantha Jackson pitched the entire game, giving up only three earned runs. Centre fielder Emma Carr made some incredible catches to keep the game close.
Ryerson University 9 - Carleton University 7
In the first game on Saturday, Ryerson beat Carleton 9-7 in nine innings. The game was scoreless until the top of sixth inning when Ryerson scored three runs and added three more in the seventh. However, the team could not hold the lead in the bottom of the seventh when the Carleton team scored four runs to tie the game. After the first international tiebreaker inning, the game remained tied with each team scoring a run. In the ninth inning, Ryerson had key hits by Vanessa Flacco and Irene Tsang to score two runs and were able to hold onto the win in the bottom of the inning.

In the second game, Carleton opened up a big lead with six runs in the first inning and two runs in second to take a commanding lead 8-2 until the fifth inning when Ryerson started their comeback scoring one run in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to tie the game. In the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs, Vanessa Flacco had a bunt single and was moved to third by a single by Emma Carr. With a two strike count, Olivia Stelmachowicz lined a hit over the left fielder’s head for the walkoff win.
