Rams bring home hardware from IUCC

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams badminton team had a successful showing at their latest competition, the Independent University/College Circuit (IUCC), this past weekend in Mississauga.

Newcomer Adwin Lau partnered with Cliff Yuen to win the men's doubles event while the pair of Liam O'Toole and Jye Duong reached the men's doubles consolation final. Oscar Thompson and Wynden Ko reached the men's doubles consolation semifinal.

In women's doubles, Avenie Lee and Alison Chiu were semifinalists while Renee Wong and Bernita Ng reached the quarter-finals. Amanda Law partnered with Cindy Nguyen from UOIT to reach the consolation final.

The best mixed doubles team for the Rams this weekend was the parternship of Adwin Lau and Alison Chiu who reached the semifinal. Allan Zhu and Avenie Lee reached the quarter-final while Liam O'Toole and Amanda Law qualified for the consolation semifinal.

With five exhibition matches or tournaments under their belt, the Rams will next compete at the OUA Championship hosted by York University from February 17-19.
