TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's hockey team has qualified for the playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons.
The Rams finished seventh in the OUA East and will face the CIS No. 10 nationally ranked Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières Patriotes (UQTR), who finished second in the East with a 19-7-2 record.
The best-of-three opening round series will start with game one at George Bell Arena on Wednesday, February 15, while game two is Saturday, February 18 at UQTR. Game three if necessary, is Sunday, February 19 at UQTR.
Round 1 Series Schedule (best-of-three):
Game 1: Wednesday, Feb. 15 - UQTR at Ryerson, 7:30 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, Feb. 18 - Ryerson at UQTR, 2:00 p.m.
Game 3: (if necessary) Sunday, Feb. 19 - Ryerson at UQTR, 7:00 p.m.
The Rams finished the regular season with a 13-12-3 record and 29 points. The 13 victories ties the Ryerson mark for wins in a season set by the 1988-89 Rams, who were 13-12-1. The 29 points is the most recorded in a single season by the Rams. This is also the first time in 23 years that the team has posted a winning record.
Ryerson and UQTR met twice during the regular season. The Patriotes dumped the Rams 9-1 on November 5 in Trois-Rivières. However, a week later in Toronto, UQTR needed a shootout to defeat Ryerson 5-4.
