The first-year middle-blocker was named the OUA rookie of the year after averaging 2.92 points per set which ranked her 20th in conference scoring. Briscoe also garnered a .243 kill percentage, which placed her seventh in the league amongst players with 300 or more total attacks, and led the Rams with 191 total points this year. She also finished the season with team-highs in aces (19) and total blocks (33).
The former team Ontario member is the second player in Ryerson women's volleyball program history to receive the award. Brianne Koning also received East rookie of the year honours in 2004-05.
Fellow rookie Emily Nicholishen (Whitby, Ont.) was named to the OUA all-rookie team along with Briscoe. The former OFSAA gold-medalist finished the season third in team scoring with 2.88 points per set, finishing the year with 143 kills and 141 digs.
