TORONTO- For the second-straight year, Ryerson Rams men's basketball coach Roy Rana has been selected to guide the World Select Team against their USA counterparts at the Nike Hoop Summit.

The game features the best up-and-coming stars from the United States and all over the globe will take place at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon for the fifth-straight year. Last season, Rana's World Selects were on the losing end of a 92-80 decision. Overall, the Americans have won 11 of the 14 Hoop Summits since the event began in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995.

This annual basketball game is played under international rules and features the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Select Team, comprised of the top high school boy senior players, playing against a World Select Team, comprised of top players 19-years-old or younger from around the world.

The event has also been played in Lake Buena Vista, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Indianapolis, Indiana; San Antonio, Texas; and Memphis, Tennessee.

Rana is coming off a historic season with the men's basketball team at Ryerson. After leading the men to second-place in the OUA East division, the third-year bench-boss took the Rams to new heights be coming up with an improbable upset of Lakehead in the OUA Final Four semifinals to book a place in the CIS Final 8. It was the program's first national championship appearance in over a decade. Ryerson finished the year with an OUA silver medal and a sixth-place result at the Final 8.

The Hoop Summit has featured some of the NBA's current stars including: Nicolas Batum • Kevin Durant • Monta Ellis • Kevin Garnett • Rudy Gay • Kyrie Irving • Al Jefferson • Joe Johnson • Kevin Love • Dirk Nowitzki • Tony Parker • Derrick Rose • Josh Smith • John Wall.

This year's event takes place on Saturday, April 7 at the Rose Garden in Portland.
