The Brock Badgers used an explosive fourth quarter to secure a 79-57 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday afternoon at the Darcel Wright Memorial Classic. The win moves the Badgers into the consolation final on Sunday.
The game was evenly matched for the majority of the contest and after the first quarter both teams were 5-15 from the floor. The Badgers held a 17-15 edge thanks to a 2-5 clip from behind the arc.
Toronto scored the first ten points of the second quarter to build an eight point lead at 25-17 just three minutes into the frame. Brock responded with the next ten points to reclaim the lead at 27-25 at the 3:45 mark. The teams traded baskets to close the half with Brock leading 33-31.
The Badgers extended their lead into the third quarter, opening up a 12 point advantage at 49-37 with 4:20 remaining in the stanza. The Varsity Blues closed the gap by scoring the next nine points, capped off with a Liane Bailey (Montreal, Que.) three pointer to end the third quarter scoring with the Badgers holding a 49-46 lead.

In a game McMaster never trailed, the Marauders turned in an impressive game defeating the Ryerson Rams 79-40 on Saturday at the Darcel Wright Memorial Classic. The Marauders began the game on a 13-0 run and never looked back as they cruised to victory.
The Rams had difficulty retaining possession throughout the game, committing a total of 32 turnovers which McMaster converted for 22 points.
The Marauders held a 27-7 lead after the first quarter and increased the margin to 33 at half with a 48-15 score.
Ryerson's Annie Sokoloff (North Vancouver, B.C.) had a strong third quarter for the Rams, dropping eight points to help Ryerson outscore the Marauders 13-9 in the frame. McMaster's offence lapsed for six scoreless minutes and scored just nine points in the third but still maintained a 57-28 lead after three quarters.
Danielle Boiago (Hamilton, Ont.) and Vanessa Bonomo (Dundas, Ont.) nailed back to back three pointers to open the scoring in the fourth for the Marauders. Hailey Milligan (Brantford, Ont.) then took over scoring six straight points from in the paint and the Marauders cruised to the 79-40 victory.

Game 7: UNB 76, UBC 60
The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds clinched a spot in the Darcel Wright Memorial Classic championship game after a 76-60 semifinal victory over the UBC Thunderbirds. The Reds led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter and were able to close out a strong UBC squad.
UBC scored on their first two possessions of the game but the last time the Thunderbirds would hold a lead was at 6-5. UNB went on a 9-4 run to end the first quarter and held a 19-13 advantage at the break.
The Thunderbirds had difficulty penetrating the Reds' defence, being forced to keep to the perimeter. For the half, UBC shot 3-9 from beyond the arc but were outdone by UNB who cashed in on 6-of-13 from long range. Claire Colborne (Calgary, Alta.) drained three long balls in the second quarter alone and finished the game 4-of-6 from long distance.
The Varsity Reds built up a 15 point lead with 2:40 remaining in the first half but UBC's Kris Young (North Vancouver, B.C.) hit a buzzer beater to round out the scoring with UNB ahead 37-25 at half time.

Game 8: Saskatchewan 52, Laval 45
The Saskatchewan Huskies overcame a poor first half shooting performance to take a 52-45 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or to secure a place in the championship game of the Darcel Wright Memorial Classic.
Both teams struggled out of the gate as Saskatchewan finished the first half shooting 19.4% from the floor while Laval shot just 20%. The teams entered the half time break tied 18-18.
The Huskies found their rhythm on offence in the third quarter putting together a 16 point run to turn a 24-22 deficit into a 38-24 advantage. Dalyce Emmerson had a strong showing, scoring eight points in the quarter for Saskatchewan.
Laval could not buy a basket for a span of four minutes in the quarter and the game slipped away from them.
The Rouge et Or outscored Saskatchewan 17-12 in the final frame but the gap was too significant and they could not pull even with the Huskies.
