Rams improve to 10-2 with win over Waterloo
WATERLOO, Ont. - Sofia Paska tied her career mark of 26 points while also adding 14 rebounds as the No. 7 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams women's basketball team defeated the host Waterloo Warriors 62-50 on Saturday afternoon.
Guard Kellie Ring also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Rams, who improve to 10-2 with the victory. First-year forward Bronwyn Williams posted a career best nine rebounds.
The Rams led 34-19 at the break. The Warriors chipped away in the second half and were able to cut the Ryerson lead to nine points with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Rams defense would tighten, while Paska and Ring hit free throws to seal the victory.
Emily Wilk had 14 points for Waterloo, while Kristen Osborne added 12 points. The loss drops the Warriors record to 5-8.
The Rams will return to action Wednesday when they host the No.1 McMaster Marauders at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
