TORONTO- The Ryerson Rams badminton team hosted their first invitational tournament on Sunday, November 6 at Kerr Hall Gymnasium.

Ryerson's best performance came from rookie David Chan (Markham, Ont.), who made it to the men's singles finals before falling in three games (18-21, 21-18, 19-21) to Toronto's Kyle Thompson.

Kyle Wong Chew Onn (Markham, Ont.) and Mathew Pang (Mississauga) got as far as the semi-finals in men's doubles before losing to Waterloo's Raymond Cheng and Wes Marr in two games (17-21, 16-21).

Wong Chew Onn also lost in singles quarter-finals, as did Clare Cheung (North York, Ont.) on the women's side. Cheung and Samantha Tang (Ajax, Ont.) were defeated by Carrie Law and Ingrid Liu in the women's doubles quarter-finals.

The Rams will host another invitational on January 14.  The OUA championships will be held from March 16-18 at the University of Toronto.
