TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams badminton team hosted the Ryerson Open this past Sunday at Kerr Hall Gymnasium. All matches played were doubles events - women's, men's, and mixed.

The duo of Nathan Cheng and Adwin Lau were ranked the 3/4 seed in men's doubles and finished second, losing in the finals.

Also in men's doubles, Cliff Yuen and Allan Zhu went 2-2 and reached the semifinal on the consolation side while Wynden Ko and Oscar Thompson reached the quarter-finals of the consolation bracket.

The top Ryerson result in women's doubles came from Alison Chiu and Renee Wong who reached the quarter-final before losing to the eventual winners.

Cheng and Chiu then teamed up in mixed doubles and were ranked a 5/8 seed and proceeded to reach the quarter-final. Meanwhile, Zhu and Bernita Ng parterned in mixed doubles and advanced to the consolation quarter-final.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, January 20 when they play an exhibition game against York.
