The first-year out of Scarborough, Ont. was selected to the OUA all-rookie team after being a bright spot in a trying season for the Ryerson Rams men's volleyball team. Dawson finished 20th in conference scoring, averaging 2.77 points per set which also ranked him second on Ryerson. He also picked up 140 total kills, 55 digs, 19 blocks and 13 aces throughout the season.
Dawson played a big role in the Rams' November 4 upset of the defending OUA champion McMaster at Kerr Hall Gym, tallying 15 kills and 19 points to lead Ryerson over the Marauders in a five-set thriller.
The business management major is the second men's volleyball athlete to crack to conference all-rookie roster in as many years and the ninth in team history. Aleksa Miladinovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was also recognized as an all-rookie in 2010-11.
