KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ryerson Rams men’s volleyball team improved their record to 3-1 this season with a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) of the RMC Paladins on Saturday night.

BOXSCORE

Rams standout Lucas Coleman (Brooklin, Ont.) led the team on both sides of the ball with 12 kills and seven digs. Brendan Kewin (Milton, Ont.) contributed six kills in just one set of play to rank third on the team on Saturday.

The Rams got off to a slow start, posting just eight kills while committing four attack errors in the first set, but they were able to overcome those inefficiencies and win the set 25-20.

Ryerson’s defence certainly kept the Rams in the game as the team picked up 40 digs which helped lead to 129 attack attempts. When the Rams can swing that often, good things are bound to happen.

The Rams were in control for much of the game and took the second and third sets with relative ease.

A trio of Rams made their U Sports debuts on Friday including Isaac McKeague (Ottawa, Ont.), Tom McCabe (Kingston, Ont.) and Mattias Peters (Surrey, B.C.). As a unit they combined for four kills, seven digs and seven assists.

Ryerson now sits atop the OUA East division standings with a 3-1 record while RMC falls to 1-2 on the year and sit fourth. After starting the season with four straight road games, Ryerson will play their home opener this Friday night when they host the Nipissing Lakers (2-0) starting at 8:00 p.m.
