ST. CATHARINES, Ont.- The fencing team competed at the Brock Open this past weekend. The competition is one of the top level fencing tournaments in Ontario.

Last year's RSU Trophy winner for Ryerson Female Rookie of the Year, Joanna Kolbe (Mississauga) won the bronze medal in the women's individual épée event.

Daylin Boyce (Toronto) also captured a bronze medal in the men's foil event, while Veronika Dinkelaker (Toronto) and Kristen Wavryk (Scarborough, Ont.) made top 16 in their events.

The competition was also an opportunity for all of the team's first-year fencers to participate in an event of this scale.

The OUA Men's Fencing Championships take place from February 11-12 at Queen's, while the Women's Championships will occur from February 18-19 at Brock University.
