Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week David Grant is the Boston Pizza Male Athlete of the Week after a strong performance this past weekend during the men's hockey team's two-game home stand at George Bell Arena. The rookie center tallied a pair of goals against Concordia on Friday, including the game-winner to lead the Rams over the Stingers with a 6-3 triumph. The Owen Sound, Ont. native added an assist to finish with a game-high three points. Grant was also solid in Sunday's contest with CIS No. 2-ranked McGill, recording two assists as the Rams came up just short in a 4-3 defeat thanks to a Redmen marker with 11 seconds to go in regulation. The industrial engineering major has found the twine five times this season while tallying a total of nine points so far for Ryerson. First-year figure skater Lisa Makeeva is the Boston Pizza Female Athlete of the Week. The nutrition and food major earned a silver medal after coming up with a clean performance in the gold freeskate event, executing a double axel and double-double combinations throughout her routine. A product of the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, Ont., Makeeva had the "performance of the day" according to Head Coach Janean Bruhn, who also believes that the rookie will be a definite contender for a gold medal moving forward. Makeeva was a member of the Central Ontario Selection Competitive Team and also trained abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia for three seasons.
