TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams earned a point in the OUA standings with a 2-1 overtime loss to the visiting UOIT Ridgebacks on Friday night at George Bell Arena.

After being outshot 7-4 and outscored 1-0 in the opening period, the Rams rebounded in the next 40 minutes. Ryerson held a 24-12 advantage in shots on goal in the second and third periods , while scoring once to force overtime.

Vanessa Johnstone scored the Ridgebacks first period goal on the power play, while defender Jessica Hartwick got the Rams on the board 14 minutes into the third period, also on the power play.

Ryerson generated several chances over the last 40 minutes of regulation but were unable to convert. Fifth-year veterans Lauren McCusker and Kyla Thurston were all over the ice and both created multiple offensive opportunities.

Jennifer Daly was the hero for UOIT, scoring with 49 seconds left in the extra period.

Emma Crawley stopped 21 of 23 shots in goal for the Rams, while Emma Thompson saved 29 of 30 shots for the Ridgebacks. Both teams were 1-for-7 on the power play.

The Rams will wrap up their inaugural season Saturday afternoon against the Queen's Gaels at George Bell Arena. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. and can be seen live on the Ryerson Rams Network.
