OSHAWA, Ont.- A third period charge by the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team was not enough as they fell on Saturday night to the University of Ontario Institute to Technology Ridgebacks, 4-2.
Going into the third period, the Rams (2-14) trailed 3-0, and an early goal by Victoria MacKenzie pushed the lead to four. That is before a Emily Rose Galliani Pecchia goal at 9:05, her third of the year, followed by a Melissa Wronzberg goal at 13:56, got the Rams within two, but it was not enough.
Jessica Larabie recorded 29 saves for the win. Dana Carson, starting in her second straight game, stopped 14 shots for Ryerson as the Rams outshot the Ridgebacks 31-18.
The Rams struggles on the powerplay continued, not scoring once on four opportunities. The Ridgebacks were 2-for-3 with the man advantage.
With the loss, the Rams wrap up their fall portion of the 2012-13 regular season. They next take the ice on January 4, 2013, when they travel to Montreal, Que. to take place in the Concordia Tournament.
